Our Story

Mission Statement

FREEAIR Books

is a people-first nonprofit publisher that advocates for historically excluded creatives and the stories they tell.

We fund and facilitate the creative process for people whose stories and ideas have traditionally been overlooked—particularly the unhoused, justice-impacted, and at-risk youth communities.

Meet the Founders

George & Baylee

FREEAIR Books started by George Norman and Baylee Whitmore in 2022 after the birth of their first son. With the newfound perspective of a parent, the importance of literacy became a mission for us at FREEAIR Books. At our heart, we want to serve the community we live in by spreading the importance of literacy in all of its forms to all ages.

Why We Exist

The publishing world has long shut out voices that don't fit a narrow mold. FREEAIR was founded to change that — to create space for trans, non-binary, BIPOC, and otherwise marginalized writers whose stories deserve to be preserved, celebrated, and passed down.

What We Do

We publish all types of works that challenge, comfort, and inspire. Through events, readings, and community partnerships, we bring these stories directly to the people who need them most.

Our Commitment

Every book we publish, every workshop we run, and every event we host is rooted in a single belief: that literature should reflect the full breadth of human experience. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, funded by readers, donors, and community partners who share our vision of a publishing world that makes room for everyone.

Be Part of the Story

Whether you submit your work, attend an event, shop our bookstore, or make a donation, you're helping us amplify voices the world needs to hear.
